for your local meeting(s). We suggest you to get to a meeting close to you as soon possible where you will meet members who will understand what it means to be affected by someone else's drinking.

•Useful Information For Your First Meeting
- Al-Anon Family Groups are spiritual not religious, we do not impose our beliefs on others.
- We suggest you attend six meetings before you decide if Al-Anon is for your. Try a varitey of meetings in your area if possible, all meetings vary slightly so find the one that suits you
- There are no dues for membership.
- Al-Anon Family Groups are an anonymous fellowship, what is said in a meeting is held in confidence and your anonymity is protected at all times. Members usually use their first name only in meetings.
- Feel free to go to any meeting anywhere, the only requirement for membership is that there be a problem of
alcoholism in a relative or friend.
Al-Anon/Alateen is not affiliated with any other organization or
outside entity.
Al-Anon meetings are held in 112 countries. There are 28,000 Al-Anon
and 3,000 Alateen groups worldwide. Al-Anon Family Groups in New Zealand were established since 1954 and there are over 90 groups countrywide.

Our publications are based upon the shared experience of our
membership and their application of Al-Anon's principles to their
lives. Our literature is available in 30 languages.
